About. We are a community based group interested in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We promote knowledge of STEM within our communities and enjoy the camaraderie afforded by the group and our meeting structure. We appreciate the effort and knowledge that is shared with us by our guest speakers who are volunteers that donate their time and intellect promoting STEM in the community. We started as a small group of philosophy thinkers that decided to take on STEM in April 2016. We have met monthly ever since with the exception of the Covid-19 lock-down which has severely constrained our ability to meet. Each year we have engaged with other regional STEM groups for NSW Science Week activities (see the Events page for this years activity) We promote STEM in schools via a modest scholarship system for needy students dependent upon funds availability et al. |
Established in 2016
We are a strictly informal group of individuals.
We meet monthly (in normal times) at Easts Bowling Club East Maitland NSW. Guest speakers are sourced for each meeting and an agenda is circulated to over 100 interested members approximately 2 weeks before the meeting. All communications are via email as we have no staff and volunteers make the process run |
Our GoalTo stimulate STEM thinking and excellence in the Hunter Region of NSW
To provide a stimulating environment for discussion of STEM topics with an emphasis on senior members of our community |
